RAW MEAT & EXIT WOUNDS

We know it sounds pretty gross but we're fascinated by raw meat and exit wounds. We love the heavy feeling of a cold, raw, blood red steak in our hands, the sound it makes when we slap it on the kitchen counter, oh and cutting it with a shiny, razorsharp knife...heaven!! Once it's cooked, we loose interest. And exit wounds, yes, amazing! Minimum effort with maximum effect. At the front you see a tiny red hole with a very fine line of blood leaking out, at the back, basically a big pot overflowing with chunky bolognese: quite an extraordinary contrast.
This young band from Ghent, Kapitan Korsakov, has that "steak"-effect on us and they don't just slap it on the kitchen counter but right into your face!

If you ask 20 random people on a saturday afternoon in the supermarket about KKK's new album "Well Hunger", at least 18 of them would say it's aggressive, noisy and they'll probably tell you it's not even music. KKK couldn't get a better compliment coming from a bunch of shopping housewifes.

They sure don't play easy hits; they rock, grind, screech, howl, stamp their feet, roll on the floor, kick you in the balls and spit in your face. A bit abusive but in a particular way that we've been very fond of since we first heard from them.
When KKK plays live they seem possessed by the devil, especially singer/guitarist Pieter-paul. One time he almost knocked himself unconscious and broke his own jaw by accidentally slamming his guitar in his face. They're definitely no woosies.

"Well Hunger", their debut album will be released this week. It's an addictive and refreshing piece of garagepunknoiseprogrock if that word exists. Tomorrow they'll present "Well Hunger" in Minnenmeers in Ghent. They're playing together with Mudoney so if you haven't bought your ticket yet, get one here and come check them out! The Weasels will be there dancing war in the mosh pit.
